Compiled Report of Activities - WLM
World Lawyers Mission started its activities in the year 2009 as a formal group of Lawyers who gather weekly and started conducting various seminars and debates on legal issues. In 2009 the organization had arranged classes on several subjects. Class on recent amendment in CrPc was done by Adv. Johnson Gomez. On 22/6/2010 the general body meeting had unanimously decided to register the organization as a charitable society and subsequently the organization has been registered as a charitable society by proceedings dated 7/7/2010 and World Lawyers Mission obtained registration No. as ER 442/2010. The organization had distributed school uniforms to 30 students belonging to Economically backward families which was distributed through headmistress and manager, Infant Jesus School, Near High Court. World Lawyers Mission conducted classes in the year 2011 on the following subjects. (1) Criminal Law and Evidence Act, S. 27: Adv. Ruby, (2) Electricity Laws, Adv.Firoz, (3) Christian Succession Laws, Adv. Antony P.T., (4) Family Court Procedure, Adv. Johnson Gomez. Apart from that weekly prayer meetings also were conducted throughout the year. On 21/06/2011 the next year’s committee members were elected.

On all weekly meetings Bible reading and discussions were held and legal awareness programme were also conducted under the auspices of the then committee. On 26/9/2012 a class on Abhaya case was taken by Adv. Vijay Matheus. The General Body meeting held 27/7/2013 elected the following members as the new committee members.

It was an important decision taken by the then committee to start a Bible discussion class by Br. Elvis and resultantly on all 2nd Tuesdays Bible Class by Br. Elvis started it is still going on. The election of the Executive committee members was published in Malayala Manorama and Mathrubhumi dailies. Apart from that the Sunday Shalom had published an article on Word Lawyers Mission titled as “High Kodathi Abhibhashakarude Viswasa Koottayma” in its September issue along with the name of committee members. This year it was decided to hold Wednesday Prayers at 1.00PM on 2 Wednesdays of each month. It was also decided to conduct a prayer gathering from 4.30 to 5.30 in the succeeding 2 weeks. Christmas celebrations of the Honourable High Court of Kerala was supported by the Word Lawyers Mission in the year 2013 when it members led the Christmas Carol held that year.

The present committee has decided to start a Jail Ministry and also decided to bring resource persons from outside. A class on Jail ministry also was taken by Father. Yesudas. On 22/7/2014 World Lawyers Mission conducted a seminar on history Malankara Church which was taken by Adv. Gosh Yohannan. Financial aid was given to a person who was injured in a road accident by the present committee. Another class on history and traditions of zero Malabar Church also was organized which was taken by Adv. Jiji .S. On 3/10/2014 we paid a visit to Jail Renewal Centre, Vettikkadu, Thrissur in which fifteen members of the organization participated. Again on 28/10/2014 another class on the subject “history of Orthodox Church” was organized which was taken by Adv. John Zacharia.

It was decided to convene on all last Wednesdays of the month a meeting to discuss various activities to be organized. On 11/8/2015 the members visited the destitute home run by Sister Ritika and donated an amount of Rs. 10,400/-. On 22/10/2015 under the leadership of Adv. Roy Chacko, our president we visited old age home at Mothirakanny, Thrissur and donated an amount of Rs.10,500/-. An amount of Rs.2,000/- also has been given to Fr.Stephen, Marthandanthura Parish, Kanyakumari as our contribution for their charitable work. On 1/2/2016 we visited the orphanage ‘Badsaida, run by SD sisters at Thevara and donated an amount of Rs. 4,800/-as our contribution. The Malayattoor Pilgrimage also was arranged this year and 13 Advocates participated. There were classes on various subjects including Canon Law and seminars which was participated by more than 150 members. On 16/12/2015 Christmas was celebrated wherein Justice Sunil Thomas and Justice Mary Jacob were invited as the chief guest and the Christmas Carols were sung by members of Rex Band led by Prof: Beena Manoj.

Various activities were undertaken by the vibrant committee. There was an outreach to the General Hospital, Ernakulam. Cleaning lotions and materials were provided to those in the destitute wards.. Classes on various subjects were held. One of the most important decisions taken by this committee was to start a website for the organisation. This was done by Adv. Justus. Formal inauguration of the site and launch was done in the presence of four Hon'ble judges of our high court by Bishop of Calicut, Rev. Vargheese Chakalackal.

1. Academic sessions in various legal subjects were taken by Adv. Reena Abraham and Adv.Geetha Tom.

2. Under the initiative of Director Programmes Christmas was decided to be celebrated in the sub jail. Chief Guest on the occasion was Justice. Kurian Joseph. Adv. Poulose and Adv. George Zacheriah was instrumental in getting the required permissions for the same.The programme was a grand success.
​
Christmas was also celebrated at the tuesday prayer under Br. Elvis and the chief guest was Justice. Abraham Mathew.
​
3. Marine drive bible convention- special session was held for Advocates at the venue led by Fr. Joy Chembakassery.
​
4. Flood relief charity work was initiated by world lawyers mission and a substantial sum was given to help 6 deserving persons who were affected by the flood from among the cleaning staff under the Advocates Association.
​
Contribution was also made to the CMDRF through the High Court Advocates Association.
​
5. A pilgrimage was undertaken by members to St. Ambros Church, Edavanakad.
​

Under the leadership of Adv. Geetha Tom and immense help rendered by Adv. Reena Abraham the website that was initially inaugurated under the tenure of Adv. Joseph Antony has been set in motion with help from web designer Royce George.
​
The committee is glad to inform that by the grace of the Almighty the present vibrant committee was able to arrange a 48 hour retreat exclusively for lawyers and their families at Divine Retreat Centre, Muringoor from 4th October to 6th October named Justice Word.
